The rest of the weekend...

First off - the carpet came clean!!!! Yay!!!! I took a picture - I probably should have taken it from further away so you could really tell, but oh well. The cleaner guys were here for almost 3 hours! BUT it came clean! And Garet and I weren't taking any chances and we moved the other plant to our bedroom (we keep all of our doors closed when we aren't home). Guess it's gotta be fake ones if we are going to leave them out. Today, after church, it was sooo hot so Garet went out and bought a pool. Suzi was very interested in it - but she hates water!
Garet said he bought it for her, but really I think it was for him :) He filled it up and got in, and then dragged Suzi in! She looked very uncomfortable! Once she was in we went ahead and gave her a (much needed) bath.
What a weekend! I am pooped! I am very excited that this is only a 4 day work week for me though!

I love my dog, I love my dog....

That is what I have to keep telling myself.

When I got home from work yesterday I was so ready to start a relaxing weekend! Little did I know Suzi had something else in mind. Ya know the plants I posted pictures of in the last post? Well look at it now...

Somehow Suzi managed to drag (and break) it to the complete other side of our table. While doing this, the pot was tipped over and Suzi must have decided it would be fun to play in the soil...
To make it worse, I had just watered it yesterday morning - soooooo the soil was still wet - sooooo there is a huge wet, brown stain...
Bad, huh? Well that's not all... After Suzi played in the dirt, she decided to run alllll over the house with her dirty paws. Then she thought, "Hey that nice, light colored couch sure looks comfortable!" Yep, she walked allll over our couch. THEN she thought, "Man I sure am thirsty!" So she went in the kitchen and splashed alllll her water out of her bowl. So the kitchen had wet, dirty paw prints all over the place. *sigh*
I was SO mad, to say the least! After I composed myself (and took pictures!) I got most of the soil cleaned up. Then I stripped the couch. (Luckily we have a slip covered couch from Pottery Barn, so the cover is washable!) Then I cleaned the kitchen. About that time Garet got home from work. I had already vented over the phone to him, but seriously - nothing could have prepared him. He took the sofa cover and went to the laundromat to clean it. I made a phone call to the carpet cleaners. They seemed confident that the mess would come right out. Hope they are right.
What a way to start the weekend!
Oh and did I mention that when I was cleaning up all the soil I used the vacuum to suck some of it up.... annndd it broke. It stopped sucking.
Lovely.

Plants...

Our neighbor is moving :( So sad! We really like them! It is a young couple, Amy and Ryan, and their baby, Kate - and they are the sweetest people! Ryan got a job in Virginia (which is near where they are from), so they are moving. As they were packing they came across things that they didn't want to move but also didn't want to throw away - so Garet and I got a bunch of stuff... light bulbs, food, books, cleaning supplies, baskets, and we also got a couple house plants!

It is amazing how a couple plants can really spice up a room!

Back to the real world...

It's always so great to go away on vacation, but always stinks to come back to the real world! We had such a great time in Gatlinburg! Here are a few pictures:

We went whitewater rafting! It was soo much fun! I had never been before, and must admit I was a little nervous! But it was great!

We went to the Dixie Stampede - here we are before we left:
The hotel we stayed in was beside a park. This is a creek that ran down beside the hotel:
I just thought this little church was so cute! I love the red front door
The Beane's :)

Africa...

Get ready for picture overload! :)

My mom finally got all my dad's pictures from Africa off the camera and emailed out! There were around 345 pictures that were emailed, so this is a VERY small glimpse of my dads time over there.

The team was split into 3 parts: water purification, medical, and evangelism. My dad was part of the water purification - he said him and the other 2 guys were known as the "Water Boys". Can you guess which one is my dad in this picture?

This was inside one of the schools:
This was their church service... my dad is the one on the right:
Guess what my dad taught some of the kids? How to hula hoop!

On their last day, they got to go on a safari! Dad said they saw a ton of elephants! What a neat experience!

Catch up...

Wow, I have been busy! Doing what? I have no idea - but for some reason I just haven't had time to sit :)

Garet and I are celebrating our anniversary this coming weekend - we are taking a long weekend to Gatlinburg. I am SO excited! It will be so nice to get away! Last week Garet had Cub Scout Camp all week. He kept really busy with that. They had BB guns, bow & arrows, hiking, learning about boy scouts, playing, eating, all that fun stuff! Here are a few pictures that they had from the camp...

Isn't the last one adorable?! haha
We had a beautiful weekend, so we didn't stay inside much. I will have to post a few of the pictures I took over the weekend - maybe I'll be able to get them on the computer tonight. In other news, my dad is home from Africa! Thank you to everyone that prayed for them! He and his team had a wonderful experience! It is neat to hear all the stories dad has from his trip!

Another year down...

Three years ago today, I married the man of my dreams!!
We were married in Lake Lure near my family's campground in the mountains of North Carolina. It was a beautiful, sunny day! I feel so blessed that we found each other! I look forward to many, many more wonderful years!
