Colin-isms...

(I have started keeping these all together on a page at the top of this blog.  It makes it easier for me to click back and see what Colin was up to)

- Colin held up his [fake] phone and pretended he was taking a picture, he even said, "cheese!"  Then he turned the camera around and looked at it and said, "Awwww"  =)

- I must have looked crazy because Garet walked into the kitchen and said, "You okay honey?" and then I hear a little Colin voice ask, "you okay honey?"

-We were in the grocery store and I looked down at Colin in the cart... he had one had over his eyes and the other hand was picking his nose.  Guess he thought no one could see him.

- He was taking a nap... and had been asleep quiet for about 10 minutes or so, and I sneezed.  I heard a very quiet voice say, "Bless you mommy" and then he was asleep.  Precious.

- Colin and I were playing in the living room and he took a big sip of his water, then held it up to my face and said "sip, mommy?"  I pretended to take one... then he said "Yummy, mommy?"  And I told him it was... then he said, "Feel good mommy?"  Already looking after me I guess =)

- Randomly at dinner one night Colin said, "Bless your heart Daddy"  HA!

- I was eating hummus a couple days ago and when I pulled it out of the fridge I said, "Yum!  Hummus!"  and Colin said, "Ummmm, Thomas".  (He's a big Thomas the Train fan)  So I said, "No, hummus."  and he said, "Thomas."  I don't think he gets it =)

- Since being in his big boy bed, when he wakes up in the morning I will here, "SIT RIGHT HERE MOMMY!"  He likes for me to sit next to him in bed.

- Speaking of the big boy bed, he has no clue he can get down.  It's great.  No worries about him getting all into everything... although I do deal with the above statement at 6/6:30 in the morning!

- We were out eating lunch with some friends and there was a basketball game on t.v. near us.  All of the sudden Colin yells, "Oooooo he made it!"  He was really into the game!

- Colin loves when any sports are on t.v.  I was flipping through the t.v. one night and there was a clip from Talladega Nights... Colin said, "Race Cars!"  then he said, "Race cars at Papaw's house!"  My dad is a race fan.

- He calls my mom "Grandmamamama"  It's adorable!  Now when he talks about Garet's mom (Grandma Kay) he will say, "Grandmamama Kay"

- Still loves his books, any book... in fact the other day he was "reading" a pregnancy book I had sitting out.  Don't worry there weren't any pictures.

Rain, snow, and ice - go away...

I am ready for spring!!!!!!

The past few days, it has been cold and raining.  We have had to find things to do outside the house to get energy out!  One day we met up with a friend and her son at a place called Backyard Paradise.  This place sells those nice wood playgrounds, and they have a showroom that they let kids play in.

There was about 5 different playgrounds with slides and swings, 3 trampolines, basketball, and putt putt inside!  Colin loved it!  The only thing was that he FLEW down the slides!!  The first one he went down, I wasn't expecting that, so he flew off right on his little booty!  After that he kept asking "mommy catch me"... so I did =)  He really liked the putt putt too... but he mostly picked up the ball to put it in the hole!

He loved the playgrounds!  When he sees a steering wheel, it is almost always a boat.  So here he is driving his boat...

The next day we headed to the Children't Museum (which I've blogged about before).  I didn't take too many pictures there, but it was a wonderful place to go on a rainy day!

Last night it started snowing around 7 or so... by 9 our power had gone out.  I added some extra blankets to Colin's bed and ours and we headed to sleep.  The power was still out this morning - so our house was freezing!  But we got all bundled up and headed out to play.

Colin got busy pulling his wagon all over the front yard!  He was so cute since he was so bundled up... I know it made it hard to maneuver!

It was fun to run around in the snow/ice with Colin.  It always makes things more fun when he is having a good time!  He has gotten to where he sticks his tongue out alllll the time!

What a cute kid!!  Love him so much!
Then daddy got home with firewood!  We were so excited!

Our landlords give us tons of firewood, which is awesome because we at least got one room of our house heated up!  The power stayed off until about 4 this afternoon.

We got creative and made a "road" for Colin's cars.  (I took pictures, but forgot to change the settings... boo!  So they weren't good).  I took some of the big construction paper roll I have and cut a big section off.  Then I made roads, and I added houses, a lake with a boat (of course), a playground, trees, a fire station, a farm... I may have gotten carried away with my drawings.  But he LOVED it!  It kept him occupied for over an hour!  He had a blast driving his car to "mommy's house" and then "the neighbors house" it was so cute!  We still have it, I will try to get another picture tomorrow!

Keeping busy...

We had a really fun and busy weekend!  On Friday Colin and I met up with a friend, Stephanie, and her daughter, Abby.  Abby is about 3 months older than Colin, and they are so cute together!  It's always funny to see how your kid interacts with other kids their age =)  We went to the Children's Museum downtown.  This place is so much fun!  It is a great activity to do especially on a rainy day (which it was).  Here are the kids sliding...

Then we moved on to the train area.  Colin was fascinated by the train wheels.  He laid on his belly to try and look under the train...  The train table is always a hit:

There was also a little place that had a chalkboard on the floor.  Colin sat right in the middle and started drawing =)

The "grocery store" was hilarious!  Abby was all about the lemons!  She filled her cart full of them!  Colin just grabbed one of everything.  It is so cute seeing these little ones pushing around their carts full of food!

One section was called "Nana's house" and it was a mini house... Colin had fun cooking in the kitchen...

Here is the food he made for us:

Please make note: he gave me spaghetti and meatballs.... he gave himself a tortilla, a big ole piece of chocolate cake, and a slice of bread.

The kids also got to make a craft.  It was really cute.  They put some foam paint (or something like that) mixed with some glue on a plate.  (it was all non-toxic)  Then the kids used Q-tips to dip in the paint stuff and put onto black construction paper.  They were supposed to make snowmen.  And when it dried it really feels like snow.

It was really cute.  They kids had a blast!  Afterwards we met up with our husbands and had lunch.

On Saturday the guys (Garet and Abby's dad, Colin) had some work to do at the office (they work together) so Colin (my Colin) and Abby got to have a little playdate again.  They are so funny together!  Abby would run around then fall on the ground... then Colin would lay next to her and right in her face say, "Wake up Abby!"  Abby would then say, "I am awake!"  Here they are coloring...

Colin just scribbled all over the page... Abby drew lots and lots of circles.  So funny to see the two of them together!

Sunday, after church, we had packed a lunch so we drove out to our new house!  We wanted to see how the playgrounds were near our new place.  So, we ate our picnic then got to playing!

For the record: Colin loves the playground near our new house =)

It was such a nice day!  70* and sunny!  Perfect!

Today was our inspection on our house - we are so excited!

Big boy...

Colin is in a big boy bed.

... and yes I cried.

He has done so well!  I am so proud of him!  I wasn't worried about it.  I mean this had to happen.  I wanted to wait until after all of our holiday traveling was over to make the transition.  Colin's crib does convert into a toddler bed and then into a full bed... but I am using that crib for Addison, so I wanted Colin to be out of it now so that he wouldn't try to reclaim it when she got here and it was re-set up.  We got a bed frame/headboard/footboard from Garet's mom.   (it was Garet's when he was little)  So, we got all the fixin's (ya know, mattress, box spring, mattress pad, sheets, pillows...) and did it.

I wanted Colin to nap first in the big boy bed, in case it went bad it would be a messed up nap time not a messed up bed time.  But I put him down and he went right to sleep!

We peeked at him and that is the pic above... when I got him up from his nap he was completely opposite =)  Which is actually why there isn't any bedding.  (it is backordered and will be here in Feb... but C just kicks the sheets off anyway right now).

He did fall out of bed last night.  It scared me so bad!  It was about 2:30 in the morning... I heard a big thump thump and knew exactly what it was!  I was up and out of bed and running to his room in a second - and I fell.  Not once, but twice.  And I got C up so fast that he didn't even have time to get a big cry out.  He fell right back asleep.  Thankfully!  I just didn't want it to traumatize him!  But Garet and I were awake for hours afterwards!  I was laughing so hard at myself - I was trying to picture my pregnant self flopping around down the hall into Colin's room!  HA!  Just glad I didn't get hurt!

Anyway, so far this has been a great transition.  So proud of my big boy.

Overachiever...

I didn't really make a resolution for 2012... I guess I kind of said that I was going to get in shape... but I found out I was pregnant in February, then had a miscarriage, then found out I was pregnant again in September, sooooo that really didn't happen.  I did do the gym thing and bike a lot in between.  Maybe that counts =)  I really enjoy biking, so I will try again starting in June/July...

I also have been taking a picture everyday since 2011: A Beane A Day.  AND I completed it again this year!  Yay me!  The reason for the title?  Looks like in November I added a "November 31".  haha  I guess I was carried away!

Guess I'm not really making a real resolution... I am going to continue taking a pic every day.  It is a great way to make sure I'm not missing any moments!  And it gives me a fun calendar every year... I make a college each month of the pics and then make a calender, so this January I get to see what we were up to a year ago.  Fun!

Good luck to those of you that are making resolutions (including my husband)!

New Year...

As I mentioned, after Christmas we spent a few days in Morehead City!  If I keep calling this house "Blue Skies", it's because that is the name of it.  Don't want you to get confused =)

We LOVE going here!  It is on the intercoastal waterway, and it is sooooo peaceful!  Thank you Kay for letting us stay!!  It was cold, but still so pretty!  We even saw dolphins, although Colin called them "sharks" so I just let him think he saw a shark.

The first day we were there started off super rainy!  After lunch it stopped but left some major puddles that Colin just couldn't resist!  So, we put on his rainboots and headed out on a walk.  These next two pictures go together:  Running to the puddle.... and running through the puddle!

I made sure to have his jeans tucked into his boots so that he wouldn't get too wet.... HA!  What a joke!  The boy was soaked!  When we went back, Garet even dumped water out of his boots!  What a boy!  It didn't help that Garet was right beside him yelling, "JUMP COLIN!  JUMP BIG!!"

We also headed to Fort Macon one afternoon.  This is the walkway into the fort...

They had done a really good job fixing it up.  One side of the fort was supposed to be just like it was back in the 1800's when it was built, the other side was turned into little rooms that told the history.  This was one of the little doorways in a room:

There was also huge brick staircases that went up to where the cannons were:

It was neat to see.  And Colin had a blast running around!  Here he is giving daddy high fives through a window:

We had a fire every night, which was awesome!  I love real fires!  And I love that my husband loves them!  (he gets the wood, starts the fire, keeps it going, and cleans it up!  I sit and enjoy.  What's not to love?!)

On New Year's Eve we went into Beaufort to walk around by the water.  It is such a cute little town!  And there are fun shops that I like walking around in.  On our way back to our car, we spotted a firetruck!  Go figure!  Colin LOVES firetrucks, so it was only fitting that we see one.  One of the fireman said, "Go ahead and open the door and put him in if you want to!"

He was in heaven!  And he talked about it nonstop the whole way home... and through dinner... and the next day...
Before we put Colin to bed, we took a picture with our "fun" drink (Sparkling grape juice.... super yummy to this pregnant girl!)

And then I'm pretty sure we were in bed by 10.  My oh my how things have changed =)
